About the position

Kaufman Hall is seeking a Database Engineer to support the Revenue and Operations Improvement practice. This role involves taking ownership of the database architecture for analyzing large, complex datasets related to Clinical Documentation Improvement initiatives in healthcare. The Database Engineer will develop databases and code, focusing on stored procedures and ETL automation processes, while collaborating with the application development team and other stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain database architecture for complex data analysis.
  • Create and optimize stored procedures and database code.
  • Contribute to ETL automation processes for client data.
  • Collaborate with the application development team to design and build data management solutions.
  • Revise existing systems to ensure effective data handling and storage.
  • Participate in the software development life cycle (SDLC) within an Agile environment.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on software applications and database structures.
  • Design and build Azure SQL Managed Instance data warehouse and data models.
  • Communicate effectively with non-technical team members and promote teamwork.
  • Bring creativity to refine offerings and improve data models.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience with Microsoft SQL Server, Azure, and SSIS.
  • Ability to design, create, and manipulate complex databases.
  • Experience with data automation processes and ETL tools.
  • Proficient in database design and development in a full stack environment.
  • Strong SQL skills for creating relational data models and stored procedures.
  • Experience in performance tuning of queries and using SQL Profiler.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Azure DevOps and Redgate.
  • Understanding of Agile development models.
  • Experience with data visualization tools, preferably Tableau.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Azure App Insights.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools.
