About the position

Wells Fargo is seeking a Database Engineering Manager to lead and develop teams focused on maximizing quality, efficiency, and productivity within the database management area. In this role, you will be responsible for evaluating the database configuration and processes in accordance with the established policies and procedures of the organization. You will identify and recommend opportunities for process improvement and risk control development, ensuring that the team adheres to performance standards while also evaluating their performance, training, and mentoring them as necessary. As a Database Engineering Manager, you will be tasked with making decisions and resolving issues related to the objectives and operations of fleet assets in the database management area to meet business objectives. You will interpret and develop policies and procedures for functions that have low to moderate complexity within your scope of responsibility. Collaboration and influence at all levels of professionals, including more experienced managers, will be key to your success in this role. You will lead your team to achieve objectives while managing the allocation of people and financial resources for Database Management. Additionally, you will mentor and guide the talent development of your direct reports and assist in hiring new talent. This position offers a hybrid work schedule, allowing for flexibility in your work environment. It is important to note that this position is not eligible for Visa sponsorship, and the posting may come down early due to the volume of applicants.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop teams that maximize quality, efficiency, and productivity.
  • Evaluate the database configuration and processes according to established policies and procedures of the organization.
  • Identify and recommend opportunities for process improvement and risk control development.
  • Establish performance standards, evaluate performance, train and mentor team members.
  • Develop policies and procedures and training materials.
  • Make decisions and resolve issues regarding objectives and operations of the fleet assets in the database management area to meet business objectives.
  • Interpret and develop policies and procedures for functions with low to moderate complexity within scope of responsibility.
  • Collaborate and influence all levels of professionals including more experienced managers.
  • Lead team to achieve objectives.
  • Manage allocation of people and financial resources for Database Management.
  • Mentor and guide talent development of direct reports and assist in hiring talent.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of Database Management experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education.
  • 2+ years of Leadership experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • 4+ years of experience with managing database engineers.
  • 4+ years of experience managing projects.
  • 2+ years of experience working for large technology organizations.
  • 1+ years of experience working in an Agile environment.
  • Experience with ORACLE, Mongo, Microsoft SQL, PostgreSQL.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills, with experience building and executing strategic and tactical plans.
  • Strong cross-team collaboration skills and proven ability to drive initiatives across teams.
  • Experience with data center migrations is a plus.
  • Experience working for the financial industry is a plus.
