About the position

The Database & Information Specialist at Southbridge Public Schools is responsible for developing and maintaining clean, automated, and sustainable data systems within the student information system (SIS). This role involves ensuring data quality, managing data integrations, completing state reports, and troubleshooting data-related issues. The specialist will work collaboratively with a team to enhance data entry processes and maintain accurate student data across various platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Managing rostering data and data integrations
  • Regularly updating data sources with rostering data
  • Cleaning up data sources in preparation for integrations
  • Managing integrations between data sources to ensure clean data
  • Maintaining relevant student data from the Aspen SIS in external sources
  • Performing new user setup and managing access for digital curriculum platforms
  • Creating data validations to ensure sustainability of clean data
  • Supporting master scheduling at all school levels
  • Creating and managing Aspen reports
  • Assisting with year-end preparation and new school year setup
  • Working on District State Reports with a colleague
  • Troubleshooting day-to-day rostering data issues
  • Assisting with access requests to SIS and other data sources

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in data analysis, collection, and reporting
  • Beginner to intermediate level experience with Student Information Systems (Aspen preferred)
  • Strong fluency in Google Suite
  • Intermediate level experience with Excel, Google Sheets, or Access
  • Knowledge of data quality best practices
  • Understanding of Clever or other educational technology data integration services
  • Ability to work independently and provide technical leadership on data quality issues
  • Solid organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Ability to assess quantitative and qualitative data

Nice-to-haves

  • Demonstrated proficiency in technology applications and database programs including Aspen SIS and SIF data
  • Ability to develop HTML and/or Java code for data integration
  • Demonstrated proficiency with state/federal reports such as SIMS, EPIMS, SCS, SSDR, SAC, P-EBT, and/or CRDC
  • Beginner level SQL
