About the position

The Database Manager at Leading Solutions LLC will be responsible for overseeing the management and maintenance of the organization's databases at the National Simulation Center located in Fort Gregg-Adams, VA. This role is critical in ensuring that the company's databases are functional, secure, and backed up to prevent data loss. The Database Manager will administer, test, and implement computer databases, utilizing their expertise in database management systems to coordinate necessary changes and enhancements. A key aspect of this position involves identifying, investigating, and resolving performance issues related to database capacity and scalability, ensuring optimal functionality at all times. In addition to technical responsibilities, the Database Manager may also plan and implement security measures to safeguard the databases against unauthorized access and data breaches. The role requires a proactive approach to database management, including adherence to established data management policies and procedures. The successful candidate will have a strong background in simulation and stimulation databases, particularly in relation to Army Mission Command Systems, and will be expected to provide both functional and technical subject matter expertise to support various projects and training events. The position demands a collaborative spirit, as the Database Manager will lead a team focused on building and maintaining databases for federated and stand-alone use. This includes drawing upon authoritative databases and simulating unit structures, personnel, and equipment. The role is situated in a fast-paced office environment, requiring the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. The Database Manager will also be expected to support databases during exercises and events, ensuring that all systems are operational and meet the needs of the training objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain the organization's databases.
  • Ensure adherence to data management policies and procedures.
  • Administer, test, and implement computer databases.
  • Coordinate changes to computer databases as needed.
  • Identify, investigate, and resolve database performance issues.
  • Plan and implement security measures for database protection.
  • Provide functional and technical support for MCS requirements and scenarios.
  • Lead a database team supporting builds and simulations for Army Mission Command Systems.
  • Build databases for federated and stand-alone use based on authoritative data.
  • Support databases during exercises and events.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an associated discipline.
  • 2 to 3 years' experience leading projects or programs of similar size, scope, and complexity.
  • 5 years of database experience supporting similar projects or programs.
  • 5 years' experience with simulation and stimulation databases.
  • 5 years' experience providing functional and technical SME support to MCS requirements.
  • 3 years' experience leading a M&S database team for Army Mission Command Systems.
  • 2 to 3 years' experience building databases for federated and stand-alone use.
  • Knowledge of M&S databases, LVC-IA, and Army Mission Command Systems.
  • Experience in updating databases based on changes to Training Support Packages.
  • Experience with JDLM and JMSEL databases.
