About the position

The Database Operations Manager at Jack in the Box is responsible for overseeing the efficiency and performance of database platforms, maintaining relationships with application development and architecture teams, and transitioning database infrastructure to cloud-native solutions. This role involves managing service level agreements with third-party support providers, providing consulting on database technologies, and ensuring that information systems align with business objectives.

Responsibilities

• Maintain an active relationship with application development and architecture teams to drive efficiency and performance of database platforms.
• Participate in the development of strategies for transitioning database infrastructure to cloud-native solutions.
• Oversee Service Level Agreements (SLA) for third-party support providers and evaluate their performance against established SLAs.
• Provide consulting on database technologies and architecture to support various programs and initiatives.
• Monitor and respond to operational IT processes, including key performance indicators and corrective action reporting.
• Assist in the development and management of enterprise technology standards and policies.
• Communicate plans and activities effectively and develop working relationships with customers, vendors, and department personnel.
• Understand application development needs and monitor the efficiency of service providers.
• Provide capacity reports on database storage and compute usage for infrastructure capacity planning.
• Identify database risks and propose alternatives and solutions.
• Analyze requirements, evaluate alternatives, and make recommendations to ensure information systems meet business objectives.
• Support project managers in ensuring quality deliverables are properly planned and delivered.
• Develop and communicate database architecture standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Five years of experience in an IT environment, including database technologies and database management.
• Industry-recognized commercial certifications in database technologies such as Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Foundations Certification, Oracle Cloud Data Management Foundations Certification, IBM Data Science - Coursera Certification, and/or Design Thinking for Innovation - Coursera Certification.
