About the position

The Database Operations Manager Tax Operations Specialist role is focused on overseeing a team responsible for L1/L2 database support, ensuring operational maturity, and managing critical database issues in an enterprise environment. The position requires strong leadership skills and experience in database operations, particularly with SQL Server, Sybase, and Oracle databases. The manager will coordinate support during high-severity incidents, drive issue resolution, and maintain communication with stakeholders regarding operational health and performance metrics.

Responsibilities

• Ensure team availability for L1 and L2 support for SQL, Sybase, and Oracle databases
• Coordinate support during high severity incidents to restore service in a timely manner
• Monitor, prioritize, and track issues until resolved
• Coordinate hand-offs between onshore and offshore teams
• Compile and provide updates to stakeholders on outages and availability, including metrics and performance against defined service level objectives
• Lead incident reporting and facilitate participation in postmortems
• Resolve issues with scheduled database maintenance
• Execute planned database code releases from application teams
• Schedule, coordinate, and install required database patches and updates
• Participate in and support new store grand openings
• Identify automation opportunities and partner with engineering teams to implement

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of experience supporting Database operations in an enterprise production environment for SQL Server, Sybase, and Oracle (must have at least two of the three)
• 1-3 years of leadership experience managing a database operations team preferred
• Experience working in an Agile/Scrum setting
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
