About the position

The Database Security Engineer at MUFG Bank is responsible for implementing and maintaining security systems to protect the integrity of relational database systems, AWS cloud native databases, NoSQL, and big data platforms. This role involves working with a team of security professionals to provide guidance and support to operational, business, and regulatory teams, as well as performing expert-level database security incident response and investigation.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a database activity monitoring (DAM) platform for security and audit compliance, including policy creation and performance monitoring.
  • Develop metrics and use analytics to identify security risks and incidents.
  • Evaluate updates to database security controls and coordinate testing and implementation with affected business partners.
  • Identify weak links in information security products and mitigate control deficiencies.
  • Respond to security incidents and assist with Tier-1 and Tier-2 incident investigations.
  • Perform root cause analysis of security violations and take appropriate action.
  • Work with database custodians to understand security needs and implement practices consistent with the bank's information security policy.
  • Collaborate with internal and external auditors to demonstrate adherence to regulatory compliance.
  • Enhance monitoring systems to detect and report security violations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related fields, or equivalent work experience.
  • 3-5+ years of technical experience in cybersecurity, insider threat, incident response, or related information security field.
  • Experience in the banking or finance industries preferred.
  • In-depth working knowledge of databases and database technologies.
  • Familiarity with AWS technologies and methods including RDS (Relational Database Service).
  • Experience with database security, monitoring, and protection.
  • Proficient with DAM, SIEM, UEBA, and related tools.
  • Detailed knowledge of major database platforms such as Oracle, SQLSERVER, MySQL, etc.
  • Working knowledge of at least two or more operating systems (Linux, Unix, Windows).

Nice-to-haves

  • Imperva Data Security Specialist (IDSS) certification strongly preferred.
  • Certifications such as Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), Certified in Governance, Risk and Compliance (CGRC), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
