About the position

The Database + Systems Administrator role at Insight Global involves planning and implementing both short and long-term projects related to database and information systems. The position requires the installation, support, maintenance, and monitoring of server and storage systems, ensuring proper access and security for user data. The role also includes performing backups, analyzing database performance, and automating system tasks using PowerShell and SQL.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement complex and routine short and long-range projects.
• Identify and recommend appropriate tools, software, hardware, and systems for purchase.
• Develop and recommend policies and procedures related to database and information systems.
• Install, support, maintain, and monitor server and storage systems both on-premise and in the cloud.
• Ensure the desktop, server, and storage environment is up to date with the latest system patches and security updates.
• Perform backups and ensure recoverability of systems and data in the event of a disaster.
• Analyze database performance and perform tuning as needed.
• Utilize PowerShell, SQL, and scripting to perform and automate system tasks.
• Serve as backup to the Network Administrator.
• Perform system maintenance outside of business hours and provide after-hours support as required.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in IT or equivalent experience.
• 3 years of relevant experience in database and systems administration.
• SQL Database experience including administering, monitoring, and performing upgrades/backups.
• 1+ year of experience using PowerShell and SQL for scripting and automation tasks.
• General knowledge of Fortinet.
