About the position

The Database Systems Analyst position at Beacon Systems, Inc. involves working closely with experienced leads and business resources to deliver quality solutions for the Department of Human Services (DHS). The role focuses on analyzing data, designing, implementing, and maintaining various database systems, with a strong emphasis on SQL and PL/SQL development. The ideal candidate will have a passion for technology and a solid background in database management and programming.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze data and work with software to deliver quality solutions.
  • Design and implement various database systems.
  • Write complex SQL queries and develop PL/SQL objects.
  • Perform database and SQL performance tuning.
  • Collaborate with team members and communicate technical concepts clearly.
  • Develop reports for federal agencies related to SNAP, TANF, and Medicaid.
  • Maintain and support database-driven reporting initiatives.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience with Oracle databases.
  • Strong experience with database and SQL performance tuning.
  • Proficient in data modeling and visualization tools, preferably Tableau or Power BI.
  • Working knowledge of ETL practices, preferably Informatica or Pentaho.
  • Excellent understanding of database management systems (DBMS).
  • Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills with complex DML.
  • Expert level SQL querying and database manipulation with large data sets.
  • Familiarity with code repositories, ideally Git.
  • Experience with continuous integration tools, preferably Jenkins.
  • Knowledge of relational database designs and database security.

Nice-to-haves

  • 5 years of Integrated Eligibility experience.
  • Experience developing reports for federal agencies.
  • Experience with Enterprise Workflow Management Tools such as JIRA and ServiceNow.
  • Advanced understanding of data visualization technologies such as Tableau.
  • Oracle certification(s) are a plus.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies, particularly Scrum, XP, and Kanban.
