About the position

The Database Systems Specialist at The Father's House is a full-time position based in Vacaville, CA, responsible for the design, implementation, and support of the Church Management System (ChMS) strategy. This role is crucial in managing, analyzing, and interpreting data to provide insights that support strategic business decisions within the church. The specialist will focus on supporting, recommending, and implementing solutions needed by various departments within the church, ensuring that the ChMS infrastructure is robust and effective. The individual in this position will maintain strong working relationships and communication with church departments and non-staff volunteers, facilitating collaboration and ensuring that the needs of the ministries are met. Key functions include researching best practices, monitoring database performance, and ensuring that proper security levels are maintained within the ChMS. The Database Systems Specialist will work closely with the Database Administrator and may assist with user training as needed. This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to balance functionality with security considerations. The position reports directly to the Technology Director and involves a variety of responsibilities that contribute to the overall effectiveness of the church's IT operations. The specialist will also be involved in maintaining documentation around solutions implemented in the ChMS and representing The Father's House in a positive and professional manner.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Database Administrator on defining the capabilities and driving the implementation of the required ChMS infrastructure.
  • Collaborate, strategically plan, and support church ministries with database implementation needs.
  • Process requests from ministries, considering the nature of the request, current workload balance, and overall benefit to the organization.
  • Research and recommend solutions based on best practices and successful solutions found in the Rock RMS Community.
  • Govern ChMS data standards and conduct audits.
  • Perform data infrastructure performance reviews and manage user access rights.
  • Maintain ministry metrics and dashboards.
  • Assist the Database Administrator with advanced reporting.
  • Work with the Technology Director to ensure all ChMS hardware is maintained and up to date.
  • Maintain good documentation around solutions implemented in the ChMS.
  • Represent The Father's House in a positive, professional, and enthusiastic manner in all matters.

Requirements

  • 2+ years' experience in an IT-related field.
  • 2+ years of customer service experience.
  • Experience working with and implementing commercial database systems.
  • Experience supporting and managing business applications.
  • Experience performing user training.
  • Working knowledge of SQL is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript is useful but not required.
  • Working knowledge of C# is useful but not required.
  • Ability to learn the Lava (Liquid) language in Rock RMS.
  • Ability to balance functionality with security considerations.
  • Familiarity with grouped AND/OR logical operations.
  • Ability to adhere to defined processes and procedures and suggest improvements.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and take initiative.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • College education with a focus on IT or Computer Science is suggested.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • IT networking knowledge.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Excel is required.
