About the position

The Database Team Manager at Northrop Grumman will lead a specialized team focused on creating simulation requirements for Army Mission Command Training Exercises. This role involves providing direction, motivation, and guidance to enhance team performance and productivity while ensuring alignment with organizational goals. The manager will also represent the team in discussions with clients and stakeholders, advocating for necessary resources and maintaining a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of specialized exercise database, terrain, parametric, and functional testing experts.
  • Provide direction on activities and behaviors to increase team morale.
  • Motivate team members and facilitate team meetings.
  • Cultivate and reinforce appropriate group values, norms, and behaviors.
  • Identify and analyze problems, plans, tasks, and solutions.
  • Provide guidance on development, performance, and productivity issues.
  • Monitor team inventory and budget, ensuring proper use of assets, pay, awards, and bonuses.
  • Represent the team in presenting suggestions and recommendations on processes and procedures.
  • Establish priorities for Government software maintenance while interfacing with clients and Northrop Grumman.
  • Advocate for the team's resource needs with clients and Northrop Grumman.
  • Maintain a general understanding of the simulation environment, systems, and tools used by the team.
  • Report on team accomplishments, achievements, and productivity to management.
  • Work closely with customers to identify exercise scenario requirements through various meetings.
  • Ensure data integrity and security by communicating regularly with Technical and Operations staff.
  • Meet with military, civilian, and contractor customers to ensure data requirements are met for events.
  • Collect data from multiple sources before and during MCTP exercises.
  • Build digital structures for information sharing and improve data collection and dissemination.
  • Study Army organizations and maintain knowledge of Joint and Army doctrine related to Mission Command.
  • Analyze customer problems and investigate available data for analysis.
  • Meet all administrative due-outs assigned by the manager.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED with a minimum of 9 years of professional and/or military leadership experience.
  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 5 years of professional and/or military leadership experience.
  • Master's degree with a minimum of 3 years of professional and/or military leadership experience.
  • Ability to work on-site at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.
  • Ability to travel as needed (up to 50% of the time).
  • Active U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance.

  • MEL 4 Military Experience.
  • Knowledge of and firsthand experience with Army organizations and Army constructive models and simulations.
  • Experience with Software Development and Project Management.
  • Experience with Quality Assurance-focused operations.
  • Experience with Cybersecurity and RMF principles.
  • Experience with U.S. Army Force Structure Compositions and Hierarchies.
  • Operational proficiency in MS Office Suite (Teams, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Access, SharePoint, One Note, etc.).
  • Experience with the Army's Mission Command Training Program (MCTP) or similar Mission Training Complex operations.
