About the position

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Datacenter/Network Engineer to join our dynamic team. This is a permanent position that offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology and to travel as part of the job. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of the in-house information systems that support core organizational functions. This includes developing, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing key functional areas, particularly network infrastructure, server infrastructure, data communications, and telecommunications systems. The role requires up to 75% travel in the Southeast region, and candidates must reside in North Carolina, South Carolina, or Georgia. The client will provide per diem and mileage for travel-related expenses.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement and support our data center and network infrastructure.
  • Ensure high availability and acceptable levels of performance of mission-critical host computer resources.
  • Develop procedures to maintain security and protect systems from unauthorized use, acts of nature, and user abuse.
  • Develop procedures, programs, and documentation for backup and restoration of host operating systems and host-based applications.
  • Conduct research on emerging products, services, protocols, and standards in support of systems software procurement and development efforts.
  • Manage and ensure the effectiveness of security solutions, including firewalls, anti-virus solutions, and intrusion detection systems.
  • Establish and maintain regular written and in-person communications with the organization's executives, department heads, and end users regarding pertinent IT activities.
  • Manage end-user customer service and direct activities to resolve hardware and software problems in a timely and accurate fashion.
  • Ensure the smooth operation of Office 365 applications and services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in a similar role, with a focus on data center and network engineering.
  • Proven experience with systems planning, security principles, and general software management best practices.
  • Excellent knowledge of current protocols and standards, including Active Directory, Group Policies, MS Exchange, Core Switching/Routing, SSL/IPSec, SAN, Virtualization, Business Continuity, Disaster Recovery.
  • Extensive experience with Firewall, Storage, and Office 365.
  • Exceptional analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a diverse corporate and client environment.
  • Ability to conduct research into systems issues and products.
  • Strong understanding of the organization's goals and objectives.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as needed.
  • Relevant professional certifications are a plus.
