About the position

We are seeking a highly skilled Network Engineer with over 7 years of hands-on experience in building, implementing, and supporting network hardware and devices. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in configuring ACI (Application Centric Infrastructure) within a Data Center environment. This position is critical as the Network Engineer will be responsible for the design, implementation, and ongoing support of network and data center solutions. The role requires a proactive approach to planning system maintenance and support, as well as developing effective system management strategies across various network platforms. The Network Engineer will work closely with our technical teams to implement ACI within our data centers, which are primarily located in Washington, DC, and Silver Spring, MD. The role involves moving data center workloads to the Equinix Data Center in Virginia and setting up Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS) at a facility located in Pittsburgh, PA. Additionally, the engineer will be tasked with establishing express routes and connectivity to cloud services such as AWS, OCI, and Azure. In this role, the Network Engineer will lead engineering services for network hardware and software, ensuring the operation of a variety of network environments. Responsibilities include monitoring and maintaining network infrastructure and services, providing Level 3 support and troubleshooting, and ensuring system availability and reliability. The engineer will also be responsible for documenting network environments for change control processes and maintaining a technical documentation repository. A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience is required, with a strong emphasis on configuring and installing various network devices and services. The candidate should demonstrate a solid understanding of standard networking protocols, virtual environments, and hybrid cloud solutions. Responsibilities

  • Build, implement, and support network and data center solutions.
  • Configure and install various network devices and services.
  • Monitor performance and ensure system availability and reliability.
  • Provide Level 3 support and troubleshooting to resolve issues.
  • Engineer and build network platforms and services.
  • Integrate network products into existing network technologies.
  • Implement, administer, and troubleshoot network infrastructure devices, including wireless access points, routers, switches, and controllers.
  • Engineer and deploy network infrastructure systems design and configuration.
  • Participate in the design of disaster recovery planning.
  • Assist in the development of network solutions.
  • Perform hardware and network diagnosis.
  • Document relevant data on requests and resolutions in an agreed-upon timeframe.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of hands-on experience as a Network Engineer.
  • Experience building and configuring ACI within a Data Center.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or relevant experience in network engineering.
  • Experience configuring and installing various network devices and services.
  • Ability to monitor system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning.
  • Strong understanding of standard networking protocols, virtual environments, and hybrid cloud.
  • Experience with Cisco routers and switches.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with cloud technologies such as AWS, OCI, and Azure.
  • Knowledge of disaster recovery as a service (DRaaS).
  • Familiarity with network maintenance and system upgrades.
