About the position

The Datacenter Operation Specialist plays a crucial role in managing and supporting IT and logistics for edge sites within a metro or region. This position emphasizes ownership of the site, ensuring high-quality service delivery and operational excellence. The role involves collaboration with various teams to maintain and deploy infrastructure, while also focusing on personal and professional development through training and growth opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Work across partner teams to support deployment, break-fix, inventory, asset management, security, design and build, and compliance to ensure seamless site operation.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with facility landlords, IT service providers, and partner support teams.
  • Assume accountability for executing all physical infrastructure resources required to provide capacity.
  • Provide quality control for datacenter-wide IT maintenance support activities across multiple service lines.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for responses to major incidents at the datacenter and participate in proactive resolution of such incidents impacting MS Cloud services.
  • Oversee successful SLA adherence in deployment, break-fix, and inventory and asset management for the datacenter to ensure compliance with internal security and compliance team requirements.
  • Contribute to regional and global improvement programs as required.
  • Embody the company's culture and values.

Requirements

  • High School Qualification or equivalent AND 2+ years of experience supporting IT equipment or related technology or delivering server and network deployment projects in large-scale environments.
  • Ability to meet customer and/or government security screening requirements, including a Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Nice-to-haves

  • 2+ years of experience in a 24x7x365 production environment or related experience.
  • Technical college degree or certification in Computer Science, Math, Telecommunications, or equivalent work experience.
  • Knowledge of physical enterprise-class IT infrastructure.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, analytical capabilities, data analysis, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute multiple tasks and projects autonomously.
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal awareness, and communication skills (written and verbal).
