About the position

The Data Center Technician is an entry-level IT position focused on monitoring and maintaining data center equipment and systems. The role involves preparing, staging, and performing startups and shutdowns of hardware, as well as troubleshooting and resolving issues related to IT equipment. The technician will work under standard protocols and procedures to ensure the proper functioning of servers and networking devices.

Responsibilities

• Monitor the system for equipment failure or errors in performance
• Respond to program error messages by finding and correcting problems or terminating the program
• Help programmers and systems analysts test and debug new programs
• Operate spreadsheet programs and other types of software to load and manipulate data and to produce reports

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
• Basic knowledge of computer hardware, servers, and components
• 1+ year(s) experience supporting IT equipment or related technology
• Basic understanding of how to use Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word)
• Flexibility to work non-standard business hours that may include weekends and/or holidays
