About the position

As part of a leading IT managed services specialist with more than 12,000 associates worldwide, eXcell is seeking a dedicated Data Center Technician to join our team in Cincinnati, Ohio. This position is crucial for maintaining the operational integrity of our client's world-class data center. The technician will work the day shift from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with the flexibility to work one weekend day and adjust hours as needed to meet operational demands. The Data Center Technician will coordinate closely with the Client Facilities team to ensure that all work orders are completed within mutually agreed service windows. Adherence to Change Control policies is essential for all activities related to the data center. The technician will be responsible for installing hardware, providing connectivity, and preparing servers for operating system loads according to client standards. This role also involves building, testing, and running cables between devices, peripherals, and network demarcation points, as well as managing the shipping of old equipment and the delivery of new equipment while maintaining accurate tracking information. In addition to hardware installation, the technician will maintain records for assets, ensuring that all moves, adds, deletes, and changes are properly documented. The role requires maintaining remote access connections into the data center environment and assisting Client Level 2 and Level 3 support teams in troubleshooting hardware and network issues. Onsite hands and feet support is a critical aspect of this position, which includes verifying status lights on servers and network connections, performing low-level repairs, and ensuring that all cabling installations follow published standards. Monitoring the data center infrastructure for normal operation is another key responsibility, including checking for water leaks, abnormal sounds, and hot spots within the room. The technician will report any deviations from the standards set by the client and submit requests for maintenance as needed. Coordination of new or changed power requirements with the Client Facilities team is also part of the role, along with maintaining site facilities in accordance with health and safety requirements.
