About the position

The Onsite Field Service Engineer (FSE) specializing in Data Centre support is responsible for providing hands-on technical assistance and maintenance within the data centre environment. This role involves routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and equipment installations, ensuring the data centre operates efficiently and safely. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills and experience in data centre operations, working effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as hardware replacement, cable management, and equipment rack installations in accordance with established procedures and safety guidelines.
  • Provide hands-on technical support and troubleshooting assistance for data centre infrastructure components including servers, storage devices, networking equipment, and power distribution units (PDUs).
  • Assist with equipment installations, relocations, and decommissioning activities as directed by senior engineers or project managers.
  • Coordinate with onsite and remote teams to execute planned maintenance activities and respond to urgent service requests or incidents.
  • Document activities, observations, and procedures accurately and thoroughly in accordance with company standards and guidelines.
  • Adhere to data centre access and security protocols including badge access, escort requirements, and equipment handling procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment within the data centre facility including equipment rooms, workspaces, and access areas.
  • Collaborate with vendors, contractors, and other third-party service providers as needed to support data centre operations and projects.
  • Provide excellent customer service and communication to internal stakeholders including data centre managers, IT teams, and end users.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications or training preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience working in data centre environments, preferably in a hands-on technical support role.
  • Strong understanding of data centre infrastructure components including servers, storage systems, networking devices, and power distribution systems.
  • Proficiency in using hand and power tools for equipment installation, maintenance, and repair.
  • Familiarity with data centre operations best practices and industry standards such as ANSITIA942 and Uptime Institute Tier Classification.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-based environment with a focus on delivering high-quality service and support.
  • Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, and analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally with customers, colleagues, and vendors.
  • Flexibility to work nonstandard hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed for scheduled maintenance or emergency response.
