About the position

The Datacenter Technician will support the AMD Server Management Team in a product development lab, focusing on server assembly, operation, software installation, and hardware debugging. The role requires a self-starter who can work independently, manage server maintenance, and communicate effectively with remote engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble and operate servers in the lab environment.
  • Install and debug software and hardware components.
  • Rack, stack, and maintain servers, including processors, memory, and storage.
  • Reset systems and swap out parts as needed for offsite resources.
  • Schedule server usage and maintain logs of installations and configurations.

Requirements

  • 2 - 5 years of experience in the high-tech industry, particularly in a datacenter environment.
  • Familiarity with hardware installation, including CPUs, memory, and storage media.
  • Basic proficiency in Linux and Windows operating systems.
  • Strong communication skills to relay information to remote engineers.
  • Attention to detail to ensure complex requests are accurately completed.
  • Ability to lift 50lbs and work in confined spaces under raised floors.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in automated testing.
  • Ability to cross-train in test planning and evaluation.
