About the position

This position is located within a data center environment and involves shift work, specifically on weekends. The working hours for this role are from 9 am to 9 pm on Saturdays and Sundays. Additionally, there may be occasions when the selected individual will be required to work the same shift from Monday through Friday to cover for a colleague who is absent due to illness or vacation. This flexibility is essential to ensure that the data center operations run smoothly and efficiently, maintaining the high standards expected in such a critical environment. The role requires a variety of technical skills, particularly in the areas of hardware setup and maintenance. Candidates should be proficient in rack and stack operations, which involves physically installing servers and networking equipment in racks. Knowledge of copper and fiber cabling is also crucial, as these are fundamental components of data center infrastructure. The position demands familiarity with various server brands, including Client, Dell, Sun/Oracle, and IBM, as well as storage solutions from Net-Apps and Dell/EMC. Networking skills are necessary, particularly with Cisco switches, to ensure proper connectivity and performance within the data center. Experience with a service management ticketing system or similar software is required to track and manage service requests effectively. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is also necessary for documentation and communication purposes. Overall, this position is vital for maintaining the operational integrity of the data center, requiring both technical expertise and the ability to adapt to varying work schedules.
