About the position

Apex Systems is seeking experienced Data Center Technicians for a contract position at a technology client in Cheyenne, WY. The role involves monitoring software and processing various types of data according to operating instructions, as well as preparing and managing hardware setups in a data center environment. This position requires full onsite presence and offers a structured work schedule with potential for contract extension or conversion to full-time employment based on performance.

Responsibilities

• Monitor software to process business, scientific, engineering, and other data according to operating instructions.
• Prepare, stage, set up, and perform startups and shutdowns of hardware components such as racks, hard drives, and switches.
• Perform post-execution quality checks and verify proper setup of grounding, staging, labeling, and cabling according to safety protocols and deployment standards.
• Conduct diagnostics and troubleshooting to identify issues and replace faulty components.
• Decommission hardware for simple changes and refreshes, such as memory upgrades and OS rebuilds, following standard procedures with minimal guidance.
• Communicate, report, and escalate incidents to appropriate Data Center Technician Leads.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Basic knowledge of computer hardware, servers, and components.
• 1+ year(s) experience supporting IT equipment or related technology.
• Basic understanding of Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word).
• Flexibility to work non-standard business hours, including weekends and/or holidays.

• Previous data center experience.
