About the position

As a Datacenter Technician at Unisys, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the reliability and security of our Datacenter operations, which are essential to our solutions. This position involves supporting all Datacenter-related activities and requires interaction with various teams within Unisys, as well as with vendors and clients. You will be part of a high-performance team of technical professionals who collaborate globally to deliver exceptional service to our clients. Your responsibilities will include assisting with system installations and decommissioning, managing the installation of equipment on the Data Center floor, and overseeing power, network, SAN, and KVM connections. You will also be responsible for asset tracking, configuration management, and ensuring that all connections are properly documented. Incident investigation and reporting will be part of your duties, along with conducting capacity design and planning for the Data Center. In addition to these core responsibilities, you will manage data cabling, monitor datacenter equipment, and participate in disaster recovery projects. You will also support the Sales team by providing data center solutions planning and cost estimates for Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and Statements of Work (SOWs). Your role will require you to be available for travel to support clients and to assist with audits and compliance with various standards such as ISO Certification and SOX. To succeed in this role, you will need a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, along with at least two years in IT, technical support, and Data Center Operations. Familiarity with cable management, facilities planning, and relevant certifications such as A+ and N+ will be beneficial. Experience with enterprise backup solutions is also preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with System Installation and Decommission according to standard Six Sigma process.
  • Project manages Installation of equipment on the Data Center floor, overseeing power, network, SAN, and KVM connections.
  • Provides review of documentation for Client services, operators, and Client support staff.
  • Manages asset tracking, configuration management, and physical equipment locations.
  • Performs incident investigation, reporting, and recommendations.
  • Conducts overall Data Center capacity design, planning, and tracking.
  • Manages Data Cabling including Network, SAN, KVM, and remote management systems.
  • Conducts Power Circuits and Cooling to maximize efficiency and interface with data center facilities.
  • Monitors and operates datacenter equipment according to plan and/or SLA.
  • Participates in disaster recovery projects and has knowledge in computer networks.
  • Performs Media Services Management with a matrix relationship with Storage Group.
  • Conducts change and request management for Data Center Facility changes and maintenance.
  • Identifies client order information, coordinates installation, and manages resources.
  • Notifies customers when scheduled computer processing has been delayed.
  • Prepares documentation of all installations, floor plans, and rack or cabinet diagrams.
  • Prepares for asset disposal by performing manual labor to move equipment.
  • Maintains forms, logs, and checklists for balancing information and setup instructions.
  • Conducts Data Center solutions planning and cost estimates for RFPs and SOWs.
  • Supports the Sales team with new opportunities in the region.
  • Participates in meetings with the Sales team and potential clients.
  • Available to travel to support clients.
  • Supports audits by providing evidence of Datacenter reports and processes.
  • Conducts Data Center Security and Audits in compliance with ISO Certification, SAS70, SOX, etc.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 2 years of experience in IT, technical support, and Data Center Operations.
  • Experience with rack, stack, and server provisioning.
  • Understanding of cable management including copper cable termination and fiber optic cabling.
  • Experience in facilities planning for space, power, and cooling.
  • A+ and N+ Certifications preferred.
  • MCSA/MCSE preferred.
  • Experience in enterprise backup solutions preferred.
