About the position

The Data Center Technician plays a crucial role in maintaining and operating a data center facility, ensuring the reliability, security, and efficiency of its infrastructure. This position involves routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and management of hardware and software systems within the data center environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance and inspections of data center hardware, including servers, storage devices, and networking equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose hardware issues, coordinating with vendors for repairs or replacements as needed.
  • Install, configure, and maintain server hardware and software.
  • Monitor server performance and take proactive measures to optimize performance and prevent downtime.
  • Manage and configure network switches, routers, and firewalls.
  • Monitor network traffic and address connectivity issues promptly.
  • Implement and enforce security protocols to safeguard data center assets and prevent unauthorized access.
  • Monitor power distribution and backup systems (UPS) to ensure uninterrupted operation.
  • Maintain detailed records of equipment inventory, maintenance activities, and system configurations.
  • Follow disaster recovery plans to minimize data center downtime.

Requirements

  • Additional technical certifications or a related degree.
  • Proficiency in data center hardware, networking, and server technologies.
  • Strong familiarity with operating systems (e.g., Linux, Windows) and server virtualization.
  • Competence in data center management tools and software.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a 24/7 operational environment.
