About the position

The Datacenter Technician position involves working in a fast-paced data center environment, focusing on the installation, testing, and maintenance of fiber optic cabling. Technicians will be responsible for ensuring that all cabling meets industry standards and is installed correctly to support high-performance computing systems. This role requires strong communication skills and adherence to safety protocols while working long hours in a physically demanding environment.

Responsibilities

  • Read, understand and implement installation from provided Scope of Work documents
  • Follow schedule as provided, may shift as needed on a daily basis
  • Promote and follow safety requirements and best practices
  • Professional and timely communication - sending complete deliverables, communicating with POD Lead in timely manner via phone, updates and email
  • Use and maintain test equipment
  • Follow standard method of procedures (MOPs) to complete tasks

Requirements

  • 1 year of experience working with Fiber Optic cabling and testing
  • 2 years of experience for the lead position minimum
  • Basic knowledge of fiber optic cable types and connector types
  • Proper installation and handling of fiber optic cabling
  • Connecting pre-terminated fiber optic cabling to patch panels and High Performance Compute (HPC) systems
  • Testing fiber optic cabling with Certification Tier I Loss test equipment
  • Using fiber optic scopes to inspect connector end faces
  • Understanding of Data Center cabling standards and best practices
