About the position

The position involves preparing, staging, and setting up IT equipment in a data center environment, as well as performing startups and shutdowns according to established protocols. The role requires ensuring compliance with safety and security standards, conducting quality checks, and troubleshooting issues effectively. The technician will also be responsible for decommissioning hardware and communicating incidents to management.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, stage, and set up IT equipment according to specific instructions.
  • Perform startups and shutdowns of hardware components such as racks, hard drives, and switches.
  • Conduct post-execution quality checks to verify proper setup according to safety protocols.
  • Apply diagnostic and troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve issues quickly.
  • Decommission hardware for complex changes following standard procedures.
  • Verify security compliance for decommissioned equipment.
  • Communicate, report, and escalate incidents to data center operations management and Technician Leads.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Basic knowledge of computer hardware components.
  • 5+ years' experience supporting IT equipment or related technology.
  • Previous experience working in a data center environment.
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word).
