About the position

The Datacenter Technician position at Apex Systems in St. Paul, MN, is a critical role focused on the installation, support, and testing of various types of cabling and hardware within a data center environment. The technician will work onsite from 6 am to 6 pm, Sunday through Wednesday, ensuring that all installations and configurations are performed to the highest standards. This role requires a hands-on approach to managing and maintaining the infrastructure that supports our clients' IT needs. Key responsibilities include the installation and support of Category 6 cables, fiber optics, twin-ax cables, and various power cables, as well as the configuration of smart power strips. The technician will also be responsible for the installation and support of hardware components such as servers, network devices, and storage solutions, including HP and Dell servers, Cisco switches and routers, F5 load balancers, Checkpoint firewalls, Dell EMC storage, and NetApp systems. In addition to installation tasks, the technician will provide technical support and troubleshooting for any issues that arise, ensuring that all incidents are managed effectively through incident and change management processes. A basic understanding of telecommunications is also required, along with previous experience working in a data center environment. The role emphasizes professionalism and the ability to work collaboratively within a team to achieve operational excellence.
