About the position

The Datacenter Technician role involves working in a complex communications network to ensure system uptime and reliability. The technician will be responsible for system monitoring, preventive maintenance, and problem resolution across various networking aspects, including Baseband, IF, and RF Communications. This position requires a proactive approach to identifying issues and implementing solutions in a 24/7/365 operational environment.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure 99.99% system uptime with zero defects.
  • Perform system monitoring and routine preventive maintenance.
  • Track customer problems and resolve network issues.
  • Manage system administration and network monitoring.
  • Coordinate new product implementations into the production environment.
  • Monitor system limitations to maximize capacity and efficiency.
  • Conduct equipment-level capacity planning and network performance activities.
  • Maintain equipment inventory and configuration management records.
  • Ensure compliance with Data Center Standards and ITIL standards.
  • Respond to escalation and emergency requests in a 24/7 environment.
  • Monitor power, HVAC, fire detection/suppression, and security systems.
  • Proactively identify issues and create tickets for resolution.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience as a technician in SATCOM/Terrestrial environment.
  • Working knowledge of TCP/IP and Ethernet configuration.
  • Ability to work in a 24x7x365 environment and manage multiple tasks under pressure.
  • Basic electronics troubleshooting skills and familiarity with test equipment.
  • Excellent problem-solving, customer relations, and communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Industry certifications (Microsoft, Linux, VMware, Cisco, CompTIA, ITIL).
  • Working knowledge of Unix/Linux systems.
  • Knowledge of satellite and terrestrial technology (DSL, WIFI, Cable).
  • Experience with Cisco, HNS, CATV/IPTV, and Telco/IP protocol networks.
