Datacenter Technician

About the position

The position involves monitoring and performing ongoing maintenance on servers, networks, and appliances, with extensive experience required in installing, monitoring, and maintaining data center equipment. The role includes providing IT support to staff and customers, responding to server and network issues, and protecting company data by preventing overheating of data center components. Responsibilities also include running hardware diagnostics, replacing failing parts, and ensuring smooth data flow across the network. Collaboration with application, server, and network engineering teams on cybersecurity and network efficiency is essential. The candidate will be responsible for upgrading internal system components, documenting processes, advising on procurement of new data center equipment, and keeping track of developing trends in data center technologies. Exceptional communication skills and a willingness to support a 24/7 operations team are required. The role also involves maintaining, monitoring, and troubleshooting HVAC, electrical, and fire suppression systems, performing power cycles of physical equipment, and providing shipping/receiving support of devices.

Responsibilities

• Monitoring and performing on-going maintenance on servers, network, appliances & Extensive experience in installing, monitoring, and maintaining data center equipment
• Providing IT support to staff and customers, as well as responding to the server and network issues
• Protecting company data by preventing the overheating of data center components
• Running hardware diagnostics and replacing failing parts in a timely manner
• Monitoring all network processes to ensure the smooth flow of data across the network
• Collaborating with application, Servers and network engineering teams on cybersecurity and network efficiency
• Upgrading internal system components, including CPUs, memory, hard drives, and network cables
• Proficiency in Documenting processes and keeping event logs
• Advising on the procurement of new data center equipment
• Keeping track of developing trends in data center technologies
• In-depth knowledge of data center environments, servers, and network equipment
• Ability to keep up with advancements in data center infrastructure and technologies
• Exceptional communication skills
• Willingness to support 24/7 operations team and respond to issues after hours
• Maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot HVAC, electrical, and fire suppression systems
• Perform Power cycles of physical equipment
• Cable run, inspections, including tracing & testing (with provided testing tools)
• Providing shipping/receiving support of the devices
• Supporting Asset Management Audits/Updates
• Responding to incident/changes and requests within the data hall
• Visual hardware inspections of IT hardware components
• Install IT hardware components as directed (i.e., power supplies, server/network hardware (modules - reseat/replacement), hot swappable hardware, etc)
• Escort and monitor outside contractors/ensure they are abiding by data center work rules.
