About the position

The Datacenter Technician role involves working in a complex communications network to ensure system uptime and reliability. The technician will be responsible for system monitoring, preventive maintenance, and problem resolution across various networking aspects. This position requires a proactive approach to identify and resolve technical issues while adhering to industry standards and best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a complex communications network to maintain 99.99% system uptime with zero defects.
  • Perform system monitoring, routine preventive maintenance, and customer problem tracking.
  • Manage system administration, network monitoring, and infrastructure maintenance.
  • Identify root causes of technical problems and develop recommendations for improvement.
  • Plan and coordinate the implementation of new products into the production environment.
  • Monitor system limitations to maximize capacity and efficiency.
  • Conduct equipment-level capacity planning and network performance activities.
  • Maintain equipment inventory and configuration management records.
  • Ensure compliance with Data Center Standards and ITIL standards.
  • Handle escalation and emergency response requests in a 24/7 environment.
  • Monitor power, HVAC, fire detection/suppression, and security systems.
  • Proactively identify issues and create tickets for accurate documentation and escalation.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience as a technician in SATCOM/Terrestrial environment with LAN/WAN standards.
  • Working knowledge of TCP/IP and Ethernet configuration.

Nice-to-haves

  • Industry certifications (Microsoft, Linux, VMware, Cisco, CompTIA, ITIL) are a plus.
  • Working knowledge of Unix/Linux systems.
  • Ability to manage in a 24x7x365 work environment and multi-task under pressure.
  • Basic electronics troubleshooting skills and familiarity with test equipment.
  • Knowledge of satellite and terrestrial technology (DSL, WIFI, Cable).
  • Experience with Cisco, HNS, CATV/IPTV, and other Telco and IP protocol core networks.
