About the position
The Rubenstein School of Environment and Natural Resources at the University of Vermont is seeking a full-time, 9-month Endowed Associate or Full Professor in sustainability science and policy, focusing on energy systems. The role emphasizes academic excellence, interdisciplinary collaboration, and leadership in teaching, research, and community engagement, particularly in energy systems design, policy, and climate change mitigation.
Responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate courses in the Sustainability, Ecology, and Policy (SEP) program relevant to expertise.
- Advise undergraduate SEP students and mentor them in projects, internships, and independent studies.
- Teach and supervise graduate students as lead advisor and on thesis/dissertation committees.
- Lead a high-impact, extramurally funded research program with a strong international reputation.
- Participate in energy and climate change policy discussions at multiple scales.
- Build relationships between UVM and the broader energy community to enhance research impact.
- Contribute to school and university committees and the energy systems profession.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Science and Technology Studies, Energy Systems Design and Policy, Engineering and Public Policy, Sustainability Science, or related fields.
- Demonstrated capacity to deliver high-quality, impactful teaching, mentoring, and advising of undergraduate and graduate students.
- Ability to develop a successful, funded research program as evidenced by a record of peer-reviewed publications.
- Experience developing collaborative relationships with university and external partners.
- Commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in educational, research, and professional experiences.
