About the position
The Day Camp Activity Director at the New York Athletic Club's Winged Foot Day Camp is responsible for overseeing daily camp activities, field trips, and partnerships with third-party vendors. This role is crucial in creating a fun, safe, and inclusive environment for campers while managing the camp's schedule and inventory. The director will work closely with staff, campers, and parents to ensure a memorable camp experience.
Responsibilities
- Create and maintain daily schedule for the Winged Foot Day Camp
- Develop and execute camp wide activities and themes
- Supervise activity leaders and provide necessary feedback
- Oversee and maintain the camp's inventory
- Act as the point of contact and trip leader for off-site trips
- Serve as the point of contact for third-party vendors on Travers Island property
- Create a fun, safe, and inclusive learning environment for campers
- Enforce safety rules and regulations of the Club
- Cultivate and maintain effective relationships with colleagues, campers, parents/guardians, and third-party vendors
- Be flexible to meet changing work needs and demands
- Be on site when field trips are not scheduled
- Attend pre-camp training in May and June 2024
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience working with children
- Must be at least 21 years old
- Pass NYS and national background check
- Valid CPR/First Aid/AED certification
- Transportation to and from Travers Island required
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work on a team
- Possess effective customer service skills
- Demonstrate responsible and professional conduct
- Be open to feedback and desire to grow professionally
- Able to handle multiple tasks efficiently and accurately
- Knowledge in lesson planning and youth sports programs/activities
