About the position

The position involves providing support and 1:1 supervision for program participants with complex behaviors. The role requires working closely with clinical and management teams to implement strategies that promote success and development for individuals in the program. Responsibilities include ensuring safety, providing transportation, and facilitating meaningful community engagement for participants.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures safety of program participants at various locations.
  • Reports incidents and follows agency procedures as a mandated reporter.
  • Provides 1:1 supervision and implements proactive strategies from support plans.
  • Delivers direct intervention during behavioral incidents.
  • Supports participants in engaging in meaningful activities and communicates relevant information to the team.
  • Transports participants to and from program and community activities.
  • Facilitates appropriate interactions between participants and peers, staff, and community members.
  • Reports on participants' success and concerns to the clinical/management team.
  • Participates in meetings to discuss development strategies for participants.
  • Completes daily documentation and provides updates to the clinical/management team.
  • Provides coverage for other program participants as needed.
  • Completes and maintains all mandatory trainings.
  • Participates in additional training based on participant needs.
  • Mentors new Direct Support Staff.
  • Promotes agency philosophies and principles at all sites.
  • Performs additional duties as requested by the supervisor.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Qualified NYS Driver's License and must remain a qualified driver.
  • AMAP/First Aid/CPR/SCIP-R Training required.
  • One year experience supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and psychiatric disorders preferred.
