About the position

The Day Program Coordinator at The Center for Disability Services plays a crucial role in providing educational and vocational programming for individuals with disabilities. This position is part of the Adult Services Program, which has been a cornerstone of support for individuals with disabilities in upstate New York for over 80 years. The Center is known for its innovative programs and vital services that are often not available elsewhere, making this role essential in ensuring that individuals receive the support they need to thrive. As a Day Program Coordinator, you will be responsible for overseeing the programming for assigned individuals, working closely with the day program supervisor to establish effective programming and assign staff accordingly. You will function as the team leader for the interdisciplinary team that services each individual on your caseload, ensuring that their unique needs are met through tailored programming. This role also involves participating in all aspects of direct care for assigned individuals as needed, which requires a hands-on approach and a commitment to providing high-quality support. In addition to managing your caseload, you will assist the Directors and Day Program Administrators with the daily organizational needs of the program. This may include administrative tasks, coordinating activities, and ensuring that the program runs smoothly and efficiently. Your leadership and organizational skills will be vital in creating a supportive environment for both staff and individuals in the program.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee educational and vocational programming for assigned individuals.
  • Assist the day program supervisor in establishing programming and assigning staff.
  • Function as the team leader for the interdisciplinary team servicing each individual on the caseload.
  • Participate in all aspects of direct care for assigned individuals as needed.
  • Assist the Directors/Day Program Administrators with the daily organizational needs of the program.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A minimum of 2 years of job-related experience is required, specifically working with people with developmental disabilities or in a related field.
  • A minimum of an Associates degree or two completed years of college may be considered in lieu of 1 year of experience.
  • Must be at least 18 years old and be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
