About the position

The Day Program Music Teacher at Valley Village is responsible for providing creative and engaging music and art education to adults with developmental disabilities. This full-time position involves leading in-person and virtual classes, planning activities, and ensuring a safe and supportive environment for consumers. The role requires personal care assistance and documentation of consumer progress, making it ideal for compassionate individuals who enjoy teaching and making a difference in the lives of others.

Responsibilities

• Interact with consumers in a positive and respectful manner.
• Plan activities and lead assigned groups in scheduled activities.
• Provide transportation to scheduled activity areas.
• Assist consumers with personal care as needed.
• Report any changes in consumer's condition to the program director or assistant director.
• Document consumer progress in accordance with program procedures.
• Assist in the training of consumers through appropriate methods as designed in the overall goal plan.
• Use a variety of teaching methods to deliver established educational programs.

Requirements

• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• Must have a valid driver's license with a good driving record.
• Must meet all insurance requirements including criminal record clearance.
• Preferred: 6 months' work experience or volunteer work in a licensed health care facility or in a program that services people with developmental disabilities.
• Must be capable of lifting/transferring up to 100 lbs.
• All candidates must pass a physical exam, TB screening, and fingerprint clearance.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in caregiving (1 year preferred).
