About the position

The Day Sanitation position at Capitol City Produce involves maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards within the warehouse and office facilities. The role is crucial for ensuring a safe and hygienic environment, particularly in the food industry, and requires attention to detail and the ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Properly clean all areas, interior and exterior, in the warehouse and office of refuse as well as damaged product.
• Operate machinery including power pallet jacks, sweepers, and other equipment.
• Clean rooms, hallways, lobbies, kitchen lounges/break room, restrooms, corridors, stairways, and locker rooms.
• Transport trash and waste to disposal area.
• Pick up refuse from facility grounds.
• Sweep and clean the entire warehouse to maintain required cleanliness levels.
• Empty trash bins and clean trash area daily; operate trash compactor when applicable.
• Pull pallets and clean/scrub product bays on a rotating basis.
• Clean up any spills or breakages to inventoried product; recoup damages and determine if resalable or must be disposed of per government and food safety requirements.
• Perform light maintenance duties as assigned (e.g., replacement of light bulbs, collecting recyclable materials).
• Prepare various reports and forms to document cleaning schedules, spillages, product damage, etc.
• Maintain facility grounds and dumpster areas.
• Safely use a variety of cleaners and chemicals to complete tasks.
• Complete all required paperwork (e.g., downtime, HACCP) utilizing SAP, SOP's, and safety operations.

Requirements

• High school education or GED is preferred.
• One (1) to three (3) years' experience in warehouse and office facility.
• Food industry sanitation experience preferred.
• Ability to read and write legibly.
• Ability to follow orders and work with little direct supervision.
• Basic mathematical skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide).
• Safety cautious and aware.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in operation of warehouse equipment including reach trucks, pallet jacks, sweepers, floor scrubbers, bailers, and hydraulic trash compactors.
