About the position

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) position at Merrick Inc. involves working with clients to enhance their daily lives through engaging activities and support. This role is crucial in providing life enrichment, vocational rehabilitation, and personal care to over 400 clients in a structured day program. The DSP will work Monday to Friday, with a set schedule from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm, contributing to a meaningful and supportive environment for clients.

Responsibilities

• Encourage clients to engage in day activities, outings, and community inclusion.
• Be engaged throughout the day with clients in activities or community outings.
• Assist clients in personal care such as toileting, changing briefs, occasionally bathing, feeding, and preparing meals as needed.
• Transfer clients using appropriate body mechanics and assistive equipment.
• Assist in meeting the transportation needs of clients including, assisting in loading, and unloading of clients in a safe and reliable manner.
• Complete required documentation for assigned clients.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Experience working with clients who need assistance with personal care.
• Reliable transportation.
• Ability to use electronic devices, including databases and internet-based applications.

• Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug/alcohol test following a conditional job offer.
