About the position

As an Activity Assistant / Driver at Hattie Larlham's Constant Companions Day Program, you will engage with clients who have developmental disabilities and special needs, providing them with a variety of fun and rewarding experiences. Your role will involve participating in group outings, activities, and field trips, ensuring that each day is filled with joy and engagement for the individuals you serve. You will assist clients in activities such as bowling, attending movies, sledding, shopping, and enjoying social interactions, all while ensuring their safety and well-being. In addition to facilitating activities, you will also be responsible for assisting individuals with personal care needs. This may include helping with mobility, personal hygiene, and other daily living activities. The position requires a valid Ohio Driver's License, as you will be trained to drive a small bus, which will allow you to expand the range of experiences available to the clients. The work schedule is Monday to Friday during the day shift, with no weekends or holidays required, promoting a healthy work-life balance. Hattie Larlham is committed to providing high-quality care and services, and as such, you will receive paid training to equip you with the necessary skills, including First Aid/CPR, proper lifting techniques, and understanding non-verbal cues. Responsibilities

  • Engage clients in a variety of outings and activities such as bowling, movie theaters, sledding, and shopping.
  • Assist individuals with personal care while ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Drive a small bus to facilitate outings and activities for clients.
  • Participate in social interactions with clients and other community members.
  • Provide high-quality care and services as trained during onboarding.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Valid Ohio Driver's License with 5 or fewer points.
  • Willingness to learn how to drive a small bus.
  • Ability to assist individuals with disabilities in personal care and activities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities.
  • First Aid/CPR certification (training provided).
  • Strong communication skills.
