About the position

The Day Stock Helper Clerk at Safeway is responsible for providing excellent customer service while stocking and maintaining merchandise in a retail grocery environment. This part-time position involves working primarily in the evenings, ensuring that shelves are well-stocked, organized, and clean, while also assisting customers as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service as defined by the employer within company policy.
  • Load product onto six-wheelers or use a pallet jack to move merchandise.
  • Open cases and carry product to display area.
  • Replace stock on shelves and face items for an attractive display.
  • May write grocery orders as needed.
  • Operate electronically scanning cash register to total customers' final bill.
  • Receive payment for customer purchases and provide correct change.
  • Bag groceries and assist customers with carry out when necessary.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the store and aisles.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Ability to follow company customer service procedures.
  • Demonstrated prior customer service skills or related experience.
  • Ability to interact with customers and co-workers effectively.
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions.
  • Ability to work independently when necessary.
  • Ability to complete tasks assigned by management.
