The Substitute Teacher - On-call position at Oxford Public Schools involves providing instructional coverage in the absence of regular classroom teachers for PreK-12 students. Responsibilities

• Carries out a program of study prescribed in the lesson plans left by the Classroom Teacher.
• Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
• Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and objectives as indicated in the lesson plans assigned.
• Employs instructional methods and materials most appropriate for meeting lesson objectives.
• Records attendance in accordance with school procedures; ensures students are always attended to and not left without supervision.
• May perform duties usually required of absent teacher such as hall monitoring.
• Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive classroom environment.

Requirements

• High School Diploma required; preference will be given to those with a college degree.
• Knowledge of the subject(s) or age group being taught and the principles and methodologies of effective teaching.
• Skill-based competencies include attention to detail and accuracy; exercise of judgment in carrying out tasks with minimal guidance and direction; operating a computer; Microsoft and Google applications; and familiarity with educational software.
• Ability to communicate effectively and establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, parents, and the public.
