About the position

The Daycare Assistant Teacher at Fredericksburg Academy is responsible for providing a safe and engaging environment for students during before-school and after-school care. This role involves supporting students in age-appropriate activities, ensuring their safety, and maintaining effective communication with parents. The position offers opportunities for professional development and the chance to lead enrichment classes for qualified individuals.

Responsibilities

  • Support students as they participate in age-appropriate activities.
  • Work with other team members to plan and coordinate events/games.
  • Assist students with hands-on activities, labs, presentations, field trips, and experiments.
  • Ensure students are safe by monitoring hydration and play areas.
  • Perform head-counts of students throughout the day.
  • Set up and clean up Falcon Club areas daily.
  • Communicate and interact appropriately with parents/guardians during drop-off and pick-up times.
  • Memorize and enforce emergency procedures and Falcon Club rules.
  • Monitor students to ensure compliance with Falcon Club rules and prevent accidents.
  • Report and record details of incidents to parents, team members, and the Director.
  • Clean, maintain, and ensure proper use of FA facilities and equipment.
  • Keep track of activity supplies and convey needs to the Director.
  • Participate in staff meetings.

Requirements

  • Good English communication skills, both written and verbal (writing sample required).
  • Ability to solve problems and handle complex issues.
  • Creativity and attention to detail while managing multiple tasks.
  • Reliability and punctuality.
  • Ability to interpret policies and guidelines with training.
  • Essential computer skills including email, Excel, word processing, and database management.
  • Ability to lift and move equipment and materials up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to manage personal care and mobility independently.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Pass two Background Checks (OBI fingerprint & CPS background check).
  • Enjoy working with students and contributing to a pleasant work environment.
  • Self-starter with the ability to enhance FA's mission.

  • Current First Aid and age-appropriate CPR training.
