About the position

The Daycare Teacher at Flowers in the Garden Child Development Center is responsible for creating a nurturing and educational environment for preschool and school-age children. This role involves planning and implementing developmentally appropriate activities, maintaining communication with parents, and ensuring the safety and well-being of the children in their care.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly plan charts and newsletters for the Director.
  • Complete child portfolios and report progress to parents bi-annually and during conferences.
  • Maintain daily open communication with parents regarding their child's progress.
  • Keep accident reports and maintain anecdotal records of children's development.
  • Ensure confidentiality of children's information and report any suspected abuse to the supervisor.
  • Arrange the classroom environment in accordance with program goals and philosophy.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy environment for children.
  • Inspect and replace damaged or lost materials in the classroom.
  • Attend in-service and staff meetings as required.
  • Keep all appropriate records, including attendance and time sheets.
  • Meet all applicable licensing regulations for childcare providers.
  • Monitor children to ensure their physical, cognitive, and social-emotional needs are met.
  • Assist children with personal tasks such as eating, dressing, and using the restroom.
  • Maintain a regular schedule of mealtimes, nap times, and play times for children.
  • Engage children in fun learning activities and design daily events for them.
  • Perform light housekeeping duties to keep meal, nap, and activity areas clean and organized.
  • Deep clean and disinfect frequently used items on a daily basis.
  • Learn and implement the curriculum, stay organized in planning, and attend professional development sessions.
  • Complete lesson plans by Friday for the following week and post them by Monday morning.
  • Coordinate field trips and family engagement activities.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience working with children in a daycare or educational setting preferred.
  • Knowledge of child development principles and practices.

Nice-to-haves

  • CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Experience with lesson planning and curriculum development.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
