About The Position

Under the general supervision of the Manager-IT Operations, the Database and System Administrator is responsible for the installation, network and operating system integration, maintenance and support, performance, troubleshooting, capacity planning, monitoring, tuning, and backup/recovery for database management systems across multiple platforms and computing environments. This role involves planning, designing, coordinating, and implementing system projects, as well as developing, recommending, and administering system security, backup/recovery, and contingency planning policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines. The position also requires evaluating, recommending, and developing budget projections, technology standards, technical requirements, and technical specifications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or related IT field.
  • 0-5 years of experience in systems programming, systems analysis, or related computer capacity.
  • Experience in DB2 or Oracle database management system administration.
  • Experience in IBM MVS, IBM AIX, and MS Windows operating system technical support.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in systems analysis and systems project management.
  • Broad knowledge of relational database theory, concepts, architecture, and administration.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with various stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with all versions of Microsoft SQL, Oracle, and Pervasive databases.
  • Experience with SolarWinds Database Performance Analyzer.
  • Experience with MS-SQL Always-On and High Availability as well as Oracle Data Guard.
  • Experience with Cognos Data Warehouse.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate Oracle Applications installations and instance maintenance.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve Oracle Applications issues.
  • Use SQL to create and manipulate objects stored in the database.
  • Monitor and tune database performance.
  • Develop backup and recovery strategies.
  • Work with Business and Data Analysis, application development resources, and IT support staff.
  • Provide technical support to others and prepare documentation regarding system procedures.
  • Evaluate and recommend project and task prioritization and scheduling.
  • Maintain a troubleshooting tracking log ensuring timely resolution of problems.
