About the position

The DB2 UDB LUW DBA (Database Administrator) role at Net2Source involves managing and upgrading DB2 databases, ensuring compatibility with newer versions, and optimizing performance during and after the upgrade process. The position requires extensive experience in database management, particularly in migrating databases from AIX to Linux environments. The DBA will collaborate with developers and system administrators to maintain seamless database operations and support the overall database environment.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, implement, and support the migration of DB2 databases to newer versions as part of OS migration.
  • Analyze the current database environment and assess compatibility with the target version.
  • Develop and execute upgrade strategies, including patching, testing, and fallback procedures.
  • Perform pre-upgrade and post-upgrade testing to ensure application and system integration with the upgraded DB2 version.
  • Coordinate and execute database migration in production, test, and development environments.
  • Optimize and adjust database settings post-upgrade for performance and stability.
  • Perform ongoing database monitoring and tuning during the upgrade process.
  • Apply patches and updates while adhering to change management processes.
  • Ensure backup and recovery plans are functional and test backup restore procedures after the upgrade.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues that arise during and after the upgrade process.
  • Collaborate with application developers and system administrators to ensure seamless database and application performance post-upgrade.

Requirements

  • 10 years of experience in DB2 UDB DBA roles.
  • Experience with DB upgrade, maintenance, and support.
  • Proficiency in DB2 UDB LUW (Distributed) and DB2 9.7 for Linux, UNIX, and Windows.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with AIX and Linux environments.
  • Familiarity with RHEL7 to RHEL9 migration processes.
