About the position

As a Senior Engineer - DBA, Cloud Data Engineer, you will leverage your technical expertise to address business challenges and serve as a subject matter expert. This role involves evaluating technology effectiveness, gathering requirements, and making recommendations for improvements. You will be part of a team focused on migrating data platform solutions to the cloud and developing new data pipelines using Microsoft Azure Cloud technologies. Your work will be crucial in optimizing information management and supporting data-driven decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate technology effectiveness through requirements gathering, testing, research, and investigation.
  • Provide high-quality solutions that align with customer expectations by listening to and evaluating customer needs.
  • Migrate existing data platform solutions to the cloud as part of the Cloud Data Engineering team.
  • Develop new data pipelines in a data-first mindset using Microsoft Azure Cloud PaaS technologies.
  • Independently analyze, solve, and correct issues in real-time, providing end-to-end problem resolution.
  • Identify new opportunities and refine automation of regular processes, track issues, and document changes.
  • Assist in complex query tuning and schema refinement.
  • Troubleshoot performance issues and rightsizing database object workflows for cost management.
  • Join the on-call rotation with other Engineers and collaborate in a team-oriented environment.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of related experience in Cosmos DB.
  • Experience with configuration management and building automation capabilities such as Git/Jenkins/Bitbucket.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure Cloud workflows.
  • Proficiency in T-SQL and scripting skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft cloud managed DBs/Systems, e.g., Managed SQL Instance, Cosmos DB, Databricks Delta Lake.
  • Experience with Big Data solutions such as Delta Lake by Databricks and SQL DBMSs.
  • Ability to multi-task and context-switch effectively between different activities and teams.
  • Must be committed to incorporating security into all decisions and daily job responsibilities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, or related field preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure platform technologies like Databricks applications, Event Hub, Data Factory, Azure SQL, Synapse Analytics, Delta Lake, Cosmos DB, or DevOps.
  • Prior experience with large-scale projects.
  • Experience with API development.
  • Knowledge and working experience with Agile methodologies.
  • Familiarity with JDBC connections to data sources.
