About the position

The Assistant General Manager at PetSmart's distribution center is responsible for directing and coordinating all operational activities, ensuring productivity goals are met, and maintaining high standards of safety and quality service. This role involves strategic planning for cost reduction and process improvement while providing training and development for department managers and associates.

Responsibilities

• Direct and coordinate all operational activities of the distribution center.
• Provide strategic direction for the Distribution Center.
• Direct productivity goals, inventory control, and housekeeping.
• Assist in developing plans for cost reduction, process improvement, scheduling enhancement, and labor hours reduction.
• Emphasize the need to deliver quality products and service.
• Provide ongoing training, coaching, guidance, and instruction for Department Managers.
• Motivate and direct Department Managers in areas of skill development.
• Communicate required policy revisions, company updates, and process revisions in a professional manner.
• Uphold, support, and maintain company safety standards at all times.
• Counsel managers, supervisors, and associates violating safety policies.
• Ensure the warehouse is clean, neat, and free of safety hazards.
• Handle potential safety violations/hazards to ensure compliance with OSHA standards.
• Create performance appraisals on direct reports and evaluate the performance appraisals conducted on associates and management for consistency.

Requirements

• 7+ years relevant work experience, including at least 3 years of experience managing teams or projects.
• Knowledge of distribution in shipping, receiving, order filling, and inventory control.
• Advanced EXE experience desired.
• Strong planning, organizing, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Bachelor's degree in a related field is required; Master's Degree is helpful.
