About the position

The DC-DC Power System Design Engineer will play a crucial role in developing innovative power management technologies for Apple's next generation Mac platforms. This position involves working collaboratively with teams to design and implement advanced DC-DC power systems for various Mac products, ensuring high performance and efficiency while considering factors such as cost and environmental impact.

Responsibilities

  • Drive innovative power circuit designs and system level partitioning from concept to product implementation.
  • Collaborate with system and power architects on CPU/GPU computer system architecture investigations using single-phase and multi-phase DC-DC voltage regulators.
  • Analyze design tradeoffs including system performance, power consumption, efficiency, physical size, cost, carbon footprint, and scalability.
  • Own power circuit schematic and BOM, working closely with the PCB layout team.
  • Develop new components with integrated circuit, capacitor, and inductor vendors.
  • Validate prototypes and perform competitive benchmarking through lab testing.
  • Provide technical support for production issues, including debugging and resolutions.
  • Conduct DC-DC power seminars and training for multi-functional teams.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentor junior DC-DC engineers.
  • Spearhead innovation through exemplary behavior and collaboration.

Requirements

  • Experience in DC-DC power system design and implementation.
  • Strong understanding of CPU/GPU computer system architecture.
  • Proficiency in analyzing design tradeoffs related to power systems.
  • Experience with schematic capture and BOM management.
  • Ability to collaborate with PCB layout teams and component vendors.
  • Experience in prototype validation and lab testing.
