About the position

As a Human Resources Specialist at O'Reilly Auto Parts, you will provide essential HR support to the Distribution Center (DC) management, the DC Human Resources Business Partner (DCHRBP), and the DC team members. Your role will involve collaborating with the DCHRBP on various recruitment initiatives, which includes screening applicants and ensuring the completion of new hire paperwork. You will also assist in conducting new team member orientations and benefit education classes, providing crucial support in team member relations, and collaborating with DC leadership on various HR duties as needed. In this position, you will be responsible for tracking and maintaining important documentation such as emergency contact information, team member listings, and turnover reports. You will also handle the distribution of phone lists for supervisors, corporate information listings, employee evacuation lists, and status changes. Ensuring proper phone coverage for the HR office is vital, and you will provide telephone coverage for the DCHRBP and DC manager as required. Additionally, you will manage the ordering and distribution of uniform shirts for DC team members and supervisors, and generate monthly evaluation reports for all DC team members, ensuring timely completion of evaluations. Your responsibilities will also include scheduling interviews, prescreening applicants, tracking drug screens, and assisting in recruiting efforts by utilizing outside vendors for reference checks. You will process new hire paperwork, assist with data entry into the company system, create team member badges, and prepare materials for new hire orientation. Providing support to team members regarding benefits, uniforms, and other HR-related inquiries will be a key part of your role. You will coordinate team member activities and goodwill projects, attend Town Hall and Safety Committee meetings, and assist the DCHRBP with writing and distributing meeting minutes. Moreover, you will support investigation protocols by collecting team member statements and incident background information, assist with the annual wage survey process, and handle workman's compensation paperwork and follow-ups. Participation in the DC Audit, including documentation of Powered Industrial equipment and Employment and Safety posters, will also be part of your duties. Overall, this role requires a proactive approach to HR functions and a commitment to supporting the team and organizational goals.

Responsibilities

  • Provide human resources support to DC management, DCHRBP, and DC team members.

  • Order, distribute, and process billing for uniform shirts for team members and supervisors.
  • Generate and prepare monthly evaluation reports for all DC team members and distribute to supervisors.
  • Schedule interviews, prescreen applicants, and track drug screens.
  • Process new hire paperwork and assist with data entry into the company system.
  • Create team member badges and prepare new hire orientation materials.
  • Provide support to team members regarding benefits and HR-related questions.
  • Coordinate team member activities and goodwill projects.
  • Attend Town Hall and Safety Committee meetings and assist with meeting minutes.
  • Prepare submissions for the DC FYI newsletter.
  • Support DCHRBP with investigation protocols and collect team member statements.
  • Assist with the annual wage survey process and workman's compensation paperwork.
  • Participate in DC Audit including documentation and compliance.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • 1+ year of office or human resources experience.
  • Proficient computer skills, including email, Microsoft Office (Excel and Word), ten-key, data entry, and typing.
  • Excellent attention to detail with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work well in a team environment.
  • Excellent customer service skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • 2-3 years of office or human resources experience.
  • Prior understanding of basic HR laws and procedures.
  • Fluency in multiple languages (Spanish is highly desired).
