About the position

As a Human Resources Specialist at O'Reilly Auto Parts, you will provide essential support to the Distribution Center (DC) management, the DC Human Resources Business Partner (DCHRBP), and the DC team members. Your role will involve collaborating closely with the DCHRBP on various recruitment initiatives, which include screening applicants and ensuring the completion of new hire paperwork. You will also assist in conducting new team member orientations and benefit education classes, ensuring that all new hires are well-informed about their roles and the benefits available to them. In addition to recruitment and orientation, you will provide team member relations support and collaborate with DC leadership on various HR-related duties as needed. Your responsibilities will include tracking and maintaining important documents such as emergency contact information, team member listings, and turnover reports. You will also be responsible for copying and distributing phone lists, corporate information listings, employee evacuation lists, and other essential documents to ensure smooth communication within the team. You will ensure that the human resources office has proper phone coverage at all times and provide telephone support for the DCHRBP and DC manager as required. Your role will also involve ordering, distributing, and processing billing information for uniform shirts for DC team members and supervisors. Additionally, you will generate and prepare monthly evaluation reports for all DC team members, ensuring that evaluations are completed in a timely manner. Your duties will extend to scheduling interviews, prescreening applicants, tracking drug screens, and assisting in recruiting efforts. You will utilize outside vendors to process reference checks for potential team members and handle new hire paperwork, including data entry into the company system, creating team member badges, and preparing orientation materials. Providing support to team members regarding benefits, uniforms, and other HR-related inquiries will also be a key part of your role. You will coordinate team member activities and goodwill projects, attend Town Hall and Safety Committee meetings, and assist the DCHRBP with writing and distributing meeting minutes. Your involvement in the annual wage survey process and workman's compensation paperwork will be crucial, as will your participation in the DC Audit, which includes documentation of powered industrial equipment and compliance with employment and safety regulations. Overall, your role will be vital in supporting the HR functions within the DC and ensuring a positive work environment for all team members.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • 1+ year of office or human resources experience
  • Proficient computer skills, including email, Microsoft Office (Excel and Word), ten-key, data entry, and typing
  • Excellent attention to detail with strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and work well in a team environment
  • Excellent customer service skills

Nice-to-haves

  • 2-3 years of office or human resources experience
  • Prior understanding of basic HR laws and procedures
  • Fluency in multiple languages (Spanish is highly desired)
