About the position

The DC Maintenance Assistant Manager at Discount Tire plays a crucial role in the Distribution and Logistics organization, focusing on transforming the supply chain to support the company's rapid growth. This position is responsible for leading the distribution center strategy, executing key performance indicators, and enhancing service levels to stores and customers. The role involves supporting the startup of new multi-channel facilities and developing processes to leverage best-in-class systems, requiring a proactive and determined approach to problem-solving and team leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe and secure environment for team members; adhere to safety programs, procedures, and policies.
  • Partner with key vendors to facilitate the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of our conveyor system.
  • Manage compliance with the processes outlined in the standard operating procedures at the site.
  • Plan, manage, and execute distribution center related functions to achieve goals consistent with supply chain vision and provide excellent service to internal and external customers.
  • Monitor and manage expenses aligned to distribution maintenance operating budget.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations governing our distribution center by monitoring implementation and practice to ensure compliance.
  • Ensure associates and management staff have proper access to necessary tools to perform their assigned duties.
  • Work with site leadership to ensure equipment needs align with volume forecasting and workload planning.
  • Support training for key users on material handling equipment.
  • Perform basic maintenance of electrical systems and equipment that is utilized.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, repair and/or replace mechanical components such as motors, drive chains, rollers, conveyor belts, and bearings.
  • Responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of facility and all material handling equipment inside the facility.
  • Analyze data to determine appropriate actions needed to optimize results.
  • Lead and execute best practices to promote team member engagement and enable a high-performing workforce to contribute to the company's strategic growth and business objectives.

Requirements

  • 1 or more years of combined experience in material handling, automation, manufacturing, supply chain, process improvement, and/or distribution in an omni-channel environment.
  • Experience with distribution center startups preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in developing and managing preventative maintenance programs preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to produce high quality and accurate work products.
  • Must be able to operate with sound reasoning and judgement coupled with a high level of resourcefulness.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills (Six-Sigma, LEAN).

  • Experience with distribution center startups preferred.
