About the position

The Operations Manager at ROSS is responsible for overseeing the production and distribution functions within the assigned area of the distribution center. This role involves managing and training supervisory personnel to meet production requirements, optimizing turn time, and ensuring accurate and cost-effective merchandise distribution. The Operations Manager fosters a positive work environment, addresses day-to-day operational challenges, and collaborates with senior leadership to enhance productivity and quality.

Responsibilities

  • Manage staff to ensure timely and accurate processing and distribution of merchandise to stores.
  • Ensure quality of work and maintain the accuracy and integrity of production records, reports, and numbers.
  • Establish area objectives and coach Area Supervisors to reach their team's productivity goals.
  • Act as a troubleshooter to assist in resolving day-to-day problems and long-term resolution planning.
  • Provide operational guidance to Area Supervisors in organizing and prioritizing daily work and staffing needs.
  • Create an effective team culture that recognizes individual and team performance while maintaining an issue-free environment.
  • Recommend, interpret, implement, and make decisions to resolve conflicts according to company guidelines.
  • Coach Supervisors on Managing Associate Performance (MAP).
  • Conduct regular staff meetings to keep Area Supervisors informed of shifts in priorities and maintain open communication.
  • Manage all administrative tasks and functions for responsible departments.
  • Select, motivate, and train qualified supervisory staff, partnering with HR for reviews and hiring processes.
  • Research inefficiencies in problem areas and recommend improvements in methods, procedures, or systems.
  • Guide Area Supervisors in administering associate performance evaluations.
  • Maintain daily paperwork, such as time and production records.
  • Maintain safe and clean work areas.
  • Interface with senior DC leadership on production planning and staffing needs.
  • Attend daily shift production meetings to report projected volumes and issues to senior management.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 - 8 years management experience in a similar retail production/distribution environment.
  • Strong communication skills (both oral and written).
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
