About the position
This position is responsible for performing all tasks related to receiving store inventory, selecting merchandise for shipping, and loading merchandise onto trailers for shipment. The role emphasizes accuracy, safety, security, productivity, and quality in all tasks performed.
Responsibilities
- Receive and unload incoming shipments, directing merchandise to the appropriate area.
- Check incoming shipments against bills of lading and packing slips.
- Take inventory of merchandise, check quantity, and maintain records of goods received.
- Identify, separate, label, and palletize merchandise, processing documents as necessary.
- Perform cycle counts and investigate inventory discrepancies.
- Move merchandise using hand trucks or forklifts to maintain continuous flow.
- Verify merchandise orders for accuracy and completeness before loading onto trailers.
- Conduct daily inspections of equipment before use and maintain a clean work area.
Requirements
- 0-2 years of experience in a distribution center.
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Ability to lift 50 to 75 pounds continuously throughout the shift.
- Ability to read, speak, and understand the English language on a basic level.
- Ability to count accurately and perform basic math.
Nice-to-haves
- Knowledge of operating RF terminal and bar code scanner, 2-way radio, and computer terminal.
- Ability to take initiative to correct issues without direction and support a team effort.
